ENERGY

The best energy and B12 gummies

B12 does not give you energy. It corrects a deficiency that causes fatigue. If you are not deficient, no dose will do anything, and a blood test costs less than a year of gummies.

The short answer

  • Top pick: Nature Made Zero Sugar Vitamin B12 Gummies, 1,000 mcg. USP Verified, and B12 was one of the first four products USP ever verified in gummy form.
  • Best combination formula: Olly Daily Energy, if you want B12 alongside CoQ10.
  • Do this first: ask for a B12 level with your next blood panel. It is a cheap, standard test.

What we checked

We screened 21 B12 and energy gummies, checked USP and NSF status, compared the B12 form used, flagged products relying on caffeine or proprietary blends, and analyzed reviews across five retailers. Five products met our threshold. How we rank →

The honest caveat

A vitamin cannot give you energy. It can only remove a reason you do not have any.

B12 is required for red blood cell formation and nerve function, and a genuine deficiency causes profound fatigue among other things. Correcting that deficiency produces a dramatic improvement, which is where the entire "B vitamins for energy" category comes from.

But if your B12 level is normal, supplementing it does nothing detectable. The excess is water soluble and you excrete it. The bright yellow urine people notice is riboflavin doing exactly that.

Who is actually at risk of low B12: vegans and vegetarians, since B12 comes almost entirely from animal foods. People over 50, because stomach acid production declines and absorption falls with it. People taking metformin or long-term proton pump inhibitors, both of which impair absorption. People who have had gastric bypass or who have Crohn's disease or celiac disease.

If you are in one of those groups, a B12 supplement is genuinely worth taking and a gummy is a perfectly good way to take it. If you are not, and you are tired, the cause is more likely sleep, iron, thyroid, or something else that a blood test will find faster than a supplement aisle will.

Also worth naming: some products in this category are caffeine in a gummy. That is a legitimate product but it is a different one, and it should be on the front of the bottle rather than in the ingredient list.

Answer nine questions and we will tell you whether this is the right category for you.

Nature Made Zero Sugar Vitamin B12 Gummies, 1,000 mcg

USP Verified, no sugar, and descended from one of the four products USP first built gummy testing methods for.

What people like most

  • USP Verified. Nature Made's Energy B12 gummy was among the first four gummy supplements USP ever verified, and USP had to build new tests for the dosage form to do it. That history is the reason the line is trusted.
  • Zero sugar, which matters more here than elsewhere because B12 is a supplement people take daily and indefinitely.
  • Reviewers who were actually low in B12 describe a substantial change, and those reviews are notably different in tone from the rest of the category.
  • Cheap and available everywhere, including warehouse clubs in large counts.

What people might not like

  • If your B12 is normal, you will feel nothing, and a large share of reviews say exactly that. It is not a flaw in the product.
  • Sugar alcohols cause gas or loose stools in a minority of people.
  • B12 alone, without the iron, D, or thyroid support that are the other common causes of fatigue.
  • Cyanocobalamin rather than methylcobalamin in most SKUs, which is fine for the overwhelming majority of people but a point of preference for some.

What people like most

  • The combination approach appeals to people who suspect their fatigue is not a single-nutrient problem.
  • CoQ10 is involved in cellular energy production and has better evidence in people taking statins, which is a genuinely relevant subgroup.
  • Taste, as with the rest of Olly's line, is the most cited reason people stay consistent.
  • No synthetic colors or flavors.

What people might not like

  • The CoQ10 dose in a gummy is well below what most CoQ10 research uses, so its presence is more meaningful on the label than in the body.
  • Melting and fusing in warm weather, as with every Olly product.
  • More expensive than a simple B12 gummy for benefits that are harder to attribute.
  • Reviews are more mixed than for the single-ingredient options, with a larger share reporting no effect.

What people like most

  • Inexpensive, and stocked essentially everywhere, which is a real advantage for something you take daily for years.
  • Reviewers describe it as pleasant tasting and easy to remember, and consistency is most of what matters with B12.
  • Vitafusion's scale means the product is rarely out of stock and rarely price-spiked.
  • Gluten free, and free of high fructose corn syrup and synthetic dyes.

What people might not like

  • USP verification applies to some vitafusion products at select retailers, not to the line as a whole, so check the specific bottle rather than trusting the brand.
  • Added sugar.
  • Same fundamental limitation: no effect if you are not deficient.
  • Vitafusion changed ownership in December 2025, and formulation and quality under new ownership is not yet established. Worth watching.

The other format

SUBLINGUAL

B12 absorption can change the format choice

For someone taking metformin or a proton-pump inhibitor, sublingual B12 avoids relying as heavily on gut absorption. It is still only the right answer when bloodwork shows a B12 problem.

How to choose

Get the blood test first.

A serum B12 level is inexpensive and routine. It converts a guess into a decision.

Check whether there is caffeine in it.

Some products in this category are caffeine with vitamins attached. That is fine if it is what you want and a problem if you take one at 4pm without realizing.

Do not buy a proprietary "energy blend."

If the label will not tell you the doses, it is because they are small.

Consider what else is on the list.

Iron deficiency, low thyroid, poor sleep, and depression all present as fatigue and all are far more common than B12 deficiency in people who eat meat. A supplement aisle is not a diagnostic tool.

If you are vegan, just take it.

B12 comes almost entirely from animal foods. This is one of the clearest cases in all of supplementation, and a gummy is a perfectly good delivery format.

Who should skip these

  • Anyone whose fatigue is new, severe, or accompanied by weight change, breathlessness, or low mood. That deserves a workup, not a gummy.
  • Anyone with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy, for whom cyanocobalamin is contraindicated.
  • Anyone already taking a B-complex or multivitamin, who should check for duplication.
  • Anyone expecting a stimulant effect. B12 is not one, and if that is what you want, this is not it.

Questions

Only if you are deficient. In people with normal B12 levels, supplementation does not improve energy. This is the most misunderstood thing in the entire supplement market.
